"I think I feel my baby."

Ashley lifted her gaze to Jarrett's, amazed by the sensations inside her. Eyes widening, Jarrett's gaze dropped to her stomach. "Is this the first time? How does it feel?"

"Like bubbles. Here." Without pausing to think, she took his hand and guided it under her T-shirt, low on her belly. His broad palm and long fingers were warm against the thin knit of her shorts. Beneath them, Ashley felt her baby's tiny, fluttering movements.

"It's going crazy in there," she said. "All day long, I've had this funny tingling feeling, but I didn't think. . .it didn't occur to me that it was my baby."

Suddenly Ashley realized how naturally she had placed Jarrett's hand on her, how intimately his fingers were still splayed across her stomach, over her child. She wanted to move away. Yet she didn't want to move. Except perhaps to get closer to Jarrett.
