Barbara, I have been a big fan of yours since I started reading about Charlotte LaRue. I think I still have one last one to read. I too was hoping, as some of your other fans are, that Charlotte and Louis would getmarried. What I want to really know, is WHERE IN THE HECK CAN I FIND A MAIDLIKE CHARLOTTE? The maids I get could never accomplish what she does, and I am a few years older than she, but myback would be breaking with what she does at her age. Good Luck. I have read and thoroughly enjoyed the Charlotte LaRue mysteries. But in the new book, "Dusted to Death", there is a discrepancy. On page 30, a major character is described as completely bald; in fact he reminded Charlotte of Mr. Clean. On page 258, the same character is being grabbed by his hair (this is about a week later)! Since I read the book in one sitting, the earlier description was fresh in my mind, so I double-checked. Yep, rapid hair growth!

Barbara, You are a wonderful writer. I have kept up with all the Charlotte LaRue series. (Which I love!) I do have a question though. In the end of \\\"Dusted To Death\\\" Louis finally asked Charlotte to marry him. Louis has never been a fan of her putting herself out there to solve the mysteries. Will the series continue with them getting married? Thank you. Sincerely, Amandah Richmond

Hi Barbara, We corresponded a good while back. Your name is my sister's, Barbara, and my name is your son's, Charles. Since that inquiry from me, I've launched my own imprint, have a second printing for SISTERBABY'S MONKEY, and I'm about to send SKULL COUNTY, USA to publishers. While my stories are not "squeaky clean" as you advised, they dig deep into what makes folks tick, grounded in my own family's struggle, oft-times. I hope you son made it back home safe and sound. Hi Barbara--I really enjoy your books and reading about my home state, too. I\'m originally from Shreveport, not too far from Minden, and my sister went to Louisiana Tech like you. I now live in Chicago, but reading your books keep me in touch with Looooosiana. I am going to treat myself to some Aunt Sally\'s pralines for Christmas. Gotta go order them now!

Hi Barbara. I discovered your books this year and I think they're great. Unfortunately you and Laura Childs, Kate Collins and Laurie R. King can't write fast enough for me. You guys either need to write more quickly or I'm going to have to learn to read slower. Waiting for a new book in a mystery series just kills me. (no pun intended). However, I'm having a hard time finding all of them. Borders seems to have some of them as out of print and that makes no sense to me as it is a current and active series. You may want to check what's going on with them if the info they are giving me is inaccurate. There's one or two I haven't been able to get yet. But, if no other way I'll get them used. Can't wait till a new one is out.

Barbara Colley:As I was browsing through paperbacks at my local book fair, I came across your book RACHEL’S WAR. The title of the book didn’t get my attention, it was your last name – Colley. Believe or not, my maiden name was Colley. I did get a chance to read your bio and understand that you are from Louisiana. My branch of the family is from Missouri, but my father’s family is from Kentucky. I’m just wondering if you might be a relative. Colley is not a common last name. Barbara, I am so proud to know you and have you as a friend...just finished reading EVERY comment from your fans. I wish they could know you personally (or not) and know that these books are you...especially Rachel's War -- I found it extremely close to my heart and such a statement for the women of the world who send their men off to fight the ungoldy wars that tear families apart but bring the freedoms we all so take for granted. Good job my friend. Luv

Dear Ms. Colley,I would like to tell you how much I love your Charlotte LaRue mystery series. I have read all six in the course of a month, just having finished Scrub A Dub Dead. I am anxiously awaiting the seventh book in this series. I feel that my \"good friend\" Charlotte LaRue has gone on vacation. You are a wonderful writer and it is so terrific to find a series that I love to read!!! Please write your next book quickly!! I would love it if you could do a booksigning in the Chicago area. Once again, keep up the good work, you are a superb author. Thank you for filling my sleepless nights with Charlotte LaRue and her quirky adventures. Sincerely,Jean South Elgin, IL

Mrs. Colley, I absolutely love the Maid For a Day series! I have not read any other of your books but plan to. I discovered "Maid For a Day" purely by chance. It is wonderful to be able to pick up a book and read it without having to DEAL with profanity! It is fun to read about New Orleans, and imagine my surprise when I saw my hometown of Minden in Rub A Dub Dead! I then discovered that you are originally from Northwest Louisiana. The only complaint I have about your books is that there are not more of them at this time!!!! Thank you! Please don't retire Charlotte for years and years.

I discovered your Charlotte La Rue books on a recent trip to the library and checked out all of them that were available. The librarian is also going to order the other two that were missing from the collection, and I eagerly await their arrival. It is nice to know they care about having complete collections by an author as much as we readers appreciate their being available. I love New Orleans and must say it was a pleasure to become acquainted with Charlotte and her adventures. Oddly, we learned of my husband's becoming a diabetic at the same time I was reading of Charlotte's being diagnosed with the same conditon. Yesterday, I read of the announcement of Hank and Carol's impending arrival on the same day that my husband and her daughter made the same announcement to me! Hopefully, I will have the good fortune to meet you some day, perhaps at the Garden District Book Shop. Until then, I will look forward to finding out what intrigue will surround Charlotte in upcoming books.

I just wanted to tell you how much I enjoyed Scrub-A-Dub Dead. I was wondering how you would treat Hurricane Katrina, and I think you made the right decision when you timed the book a year after the hurricane. Since I am now getting older, it is really nice to have books about heroines who are also on the older side. Society tends to think older women are invisible. I will be eagerly awaiting your next book in the series. One tiny criticism: you need to get a better proofreader.

Dear Barbara,
I recently discovered your books and, like the greedy reader I am, have devoured them one after the other. I have just completed "Wiped Out" and must tell you that reading "Charlotte's" musings about the threat of hurricanes to New Orleans sent a chill down my spine. How soon those fears became fact. But I suppose that those very musings must have been a constant background thought to all who lived in and love New Orleans. How ghastly for you all. Now I find myself wondering how in the world you will handle the devastation in future books? Will the awful truth be integrated into Charolotte's life or will she continue to live in the ideal of what could have been had Katrina never happened? I'm sure either way will present a challenge to you, as a writer and as a lover of New Orleans. I love your books and look forward to learning what the future holds for Charlotte and all her friends and family. Sincerely, Linda Lynch

My thoughts and prayers continue for all the people in trouble in the world. Keep writing those wonderful books.

I'm really enjoying getting to know Charlotte LaRue I hope you and she are safe and well. I'm happy I found this format to let you know I've worried for you and all of the affected Gulf. I hope Charlotte meets her grandchild soon and that Bitty and the others are able to stay linked after the hurricane. Blessings.

Dear Barbara, your Charlotte LaRue mystery series has given me significant pleasure. I was knocked out by your evocative handling of Charlotte's birthday celebration at Brennan's. As a Houston native, I have fond memories of the Houston Brennan's. And of course I'm enjoying your current book. I identify with Charlotte. I pray that Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama, and you and yours are well. -- Brigitte

Hello! I finally found you! Read aone of your books a looooong time ago, then my mother in law unfortunately decided to give away my book to a friend... Since I was computerless I could only remember that you were from Minden... so (now that I'm "computerized") I googled. Not only did I find you, but found more of your books -YAY!- but also found that you were born in Ringgold. I promise I haven't followed you, but I've lived in Ringgold, went to school at Tech, and moved to just outside NO...
I'm just so excited that I found your homepage and more books!

I just finished Wiped Out and it was wonderful. I was so happy that the baby came and everyone was ok. I also am so happy that her son is getting married. Even thought she sure is planning on this baby, even before she gets him married.
Louis is another one, boy I wonder if we will ever figure him out and if he will ever figure out what he's going to do. And now he has moved in his ex-wife.
It was wonderful. I loved every bit of it and Hated June I was so glad she was bad.
I look forward to the next book eagerly.

I love each book more than the last. It's always nice to discover a new mystery writer who doesn't dissapoint.
One thing...on page 125, it says that you clamored out of your vehicle, rather than clambered. Your editor should have caught it and you might want to tell them for any subsequent editions. I know it's a small thing, but I just thought you should know.
Keep on writing your wonderful books

I love Charlotte LaRue and am so glad that Daniel & Nadia got married and that they are going to have their own, hers and ours babies. Boy her sister is sure a pip, but in Polished Off she seems to be coming around She sure is lucky go have a sister like Charlotte. I had no Idea that you were to 5 already so I am two behind. Must get that taken care of.
Thanks for all the fun and total suspense you have given us with Charlotte. Poor girl cant seem to help herself stay out of trouble. Oh by the way I was so glad that Barbara got rid of that crooked cop. Your solutions to getting rid of the bad guys are so original. May your name become a household word and long live Charlotte.

So many years have passed since I first met you through David, your husband. David and I have been friends for, lets see, getting on to more years than I care to mention.
I had forgotten that you were an author though it was the topic of conversation between David and I many years ago. How could I forget something like that when I too, do like to write. No, I have never published anything or even submitted anything for consideration. Maybe I fear rejection. It is so pleasing to see that you are a success and do so enjoy what you do. Perhaps its to be you shall re-inspire me.
I shall purchase all your works so that I may know you better than one might know in brief conversation.
I wish you well and hope we shall again meet in not too distant future. Give my regards to David.
