Time for another update! I'm sorry to say, still no new books out --the whole site will get an update when that happens one of these days. My beloved mother passed away unexpectedly at the end of November, and our situation here (where we had all moved into one house together in 2005)has been in turmoil ever since. It's complicated! But now looks as though we won't have to move, after all --a huge relief! But then the floods came to RI and we are still dealing with the aftermath of that. The story characters tug at me and wonder why they're not getting my attention....!!

Jennifer, you might find some help reading through my FAQs section on the website. Where to start? Making time for writing is one of the hardest things...Learning you can get something done even when you only have a small snatch of time is one challenge. Turning writing into a habit is important! Teaching those around you that your writing time is important is another challenge for a lot of writers. First, you need to believe it yourself. Then, if you have children, for instance, you may need to realize that by valuing that time yourself, you are teaching them by example that it is okay for them to give value to the things that they love to do --a wonderful & important lesson IMHO!!I hope this helps, and wish you all the best writing success.

Hello, Gail -- A happy New Year and all good wishes to you and the family. It seems your writing truly came into its own in the years since I have seen you, and you are giving elegant, witty reading pleasure to many. What could be better or more fulfilling? I will be in touch soon, if you let me know how to contact you --Lynn/Lucasta/Polly (yes, that e-mail is Polly's Toybox).

Ethel, if I had a secret key to writing faster, I would gladly share it!! Still struggling with that one myself, and always have. But I will say that the more you know about your characters and story in advance, before you put fingers to keyboard (we used to say pen to paper!)the easier it is. But I find that you learn a lot about your characters as you go with them through the story journey, so sometimes you just have to jump in and go on faith alone. Hmm, kind of like life, isn't it?Wishing you all the best with your writing (and this to all other writers who may read this entry, also!)--Gail Eastwood

Thanks for looking in on my site! I still don't have a new book coming out soon, I'm sorry to report. We've continued to have family health crises between my son, my mother, and this past spring, new ones with my husband, too. But we haven't had a crisis in six months, now, and I'm slowly beginning to feel like a writer again, and have begun to -cautiously- get back to work writing. It's hard to type with fingers crossed!! I hope you'll check back here in a few months to see how I'm progressing, and hope you'll still be interested in reading my work when something new finally does come out. Friends have been urging me to post an essay on the site here about the last 5 years I've been through, and I'm considering it. Thanks for your support --it means so much to me!! Gail

Oops! I should have read some of the messages, including yours. I'm sorry to hear about your mother and brother. I can empathize with you. For several years I was the main caregiver for my mother while I myself was ill. After about 10 years, I'm finally starting to come "alive" again--and that's very slow going. I pray for God's strength as you, I assume, continue this loving but difficult task.

Hi, Gail. I've been looking forward to another book from you. How are things going? Is there a chance that you'll be writing more books? I really enjoyed them so much because they were not the usual run-of-the-mill Regencies. They always were somehow special.

Hi friends and visitors! I have to apologize for the woefully out of date website. Health issues for both my son and my mother have been taking up my time and I don't have a new book coming out soon. New projects are in the works, however, which I hope will please you once I finsh them and they make their way to the bookstores. The site will get updated once there's actually some news to share! Thanks for stopping by here, and thanks for your support.

Hi!
Saw this website at the bottom of your email about chem class and was curious. My "adopted" mom used to have bags and bags of Regency and Harlequin type books all over the house. She is a private duty nurse and works nights so she reads one per night. Thanks for helping give her an escape. I'll have to let her know that I know you!

Great site. Your info on query writing is very helpful.
I obtained an agent using a bit of humor. Since the site describing him showed no info on what he wanted sent, I put the subject on an email as,
"Query, query."
It's nice to have someone trying to sell my YA sea tale.

Hello,
First I want to thank you for the wonderful afternoon that you and the other authors provided at the Salem, NH Barnes & Noble. I can only speak for myself but I had a wonderful time and learned a few things.
Because f my husband's hubby, collecting autographs, I havr been able to meet some great people and have enjoyed every moment of it. And the experience of meeting you and the others two weeks ago is now among one of the best.
And thank you for my signed copy of The Rakes Mistake. It is now the showpiece of my Gail Eastwood collection. Not that I have all of your books, yet, but give me a few months. ;-)
The site is great and I'm sure I'll become a regular on it. And I hope to see you again in the future.

Thank you Gail, for the information of the Do's and Don'ts of a query letter. My husband is the author and I dropped in to gather information for him on the best way to write a query letter. We both appreciate the help.
Thank you. By the way, I lived in RI once. Enjoyed my years there. I am from Idaho.

Was curious what new project you had decided to do after your last book.
I guess I now know.
