Barbara, I have been a big fan of yours since I started reading about Charlotte LaRue. I think I still have one last one to read. I too was hoping, as some of your other fans are, that Charlotte and Louis would getmarried. What I want to really know, is WHERE IN THE HECK CAN I FIND A MAIDLIKE CHARLOTTE? The maids I get could never accomplish what she does, and I am a few years older than she, but myback would be breaking with what she does at her age. Good Luck. I will have to start reading your other books.G.Fleming

I have read and thoroughly enjoyed the Charlotte LaRue mysteries. But in the new book, "Dusted to Death", there is a discrepancy. On page 30, a major character is described as completely bald; in fact he reminded Charlotte of Mr. Clean. On page 258, the same character is being grabbed by his hair (this is about a week later)! Since I read the book in one sitting, the earlier description was fresh in my mind, so I double-checked. Yep, rapid hair growth!

Barbara, You are a wonderful writer. I have kept up with all the Charlotte LaRue series. (Which I love!) I do have a question though. In the end of \\\"Dusted To Death\\\" Louis finally asked Charlotte to marry him. Louis has never been a fan of her putting herself out there to solve the mysteries. Will the series continue with them getting married? Thank you. Sincerely, Amandah Richmond

Since that inquiry from me, I've launched my own imprint, have a second printing for SISTERBABY'S MONKEY, and I'm about to send SKULL COUNTY, USA to publishers. While my stories are not "squeaky clean" as you advised, they dig deep into what makes folks tick, grounded in my own family's struggle, oft-times. I hope you son made it back home safe and sound. Hi Barbara. I discovered your books this year and I think they're great. Unfortunately you and Laura Childs, Kate Collins and Laurie R. King can't write fast enough for me. You guys either need to write more quickly or I'm going to have to learn to read slower. Waiting for a new book in a mystery series just kills me. (no pun intended). However, I'm having a hard time finding all of them. Borders seems to have some of them as out of print and that makes no sense to me as it is a current and active series. You may want to check what's going on with them if the info they are giving me is inaccurate. There's one or two I haven't been able to get yet. But, if no other way I'll get them used. Can't wait till a new one is out.

I just love your books and can hardly wait for the next one. I share them with my 93 year old Grandma, she loves them too! It's like old friends when I read them, hard to put down, believe me to many nights I stay up to read them and regret it when I have to get up the next morning, but then I do it again that night. I love how you can describe an area, house, people etc. and put an image in my head. You are truly talented. Please keep them coming, I'm anxious for another one.Sincerely,Stacey - Cochranton, PA

Dear BarbaraI am thoroughly enjoying your Mysteries! I am actually a children’s library assistant and much of my reading is from the juvenile collection, but I have collections of mysteries at home including, Dick Francis, Howard Engel, Sue Grafton, Harry Kemelman and others. I am planning to purchase all of your "Charlotte" books because I’m sure that I will want to read them again. I especially appreciate the references you make to “Charlotte’s” Christian faith. Barbara Colley:As I was browsing through paperbacks at my local book fair, I came across your book RACHEL’S WAR. The title of the book didn’t get my attention, it was your last name – Colley. Believe or not, my maiden name was Colley. I did get a chance to read your bio and understand that you are from Louisiana. My branch of the family is from Missouri, but my father’s family is from Kentucky. I’m just wondering if you might be a relative. Colley is not a common last name. For years now, I’ve been doing our family research and I am always curious when I see the name Colley. Hope to hear from you.Shirley Colley WadellP.S. Barbara, I am a native Louisianian, also. I was born in Bastrop, LA and now live in Oak Grove, LA, where my husband and I own a vacuum cleaner business and a antique and doll shop. I have grown children and thier families that live on the MS coast who lost everything in Hurricane Katina. Two of my 7 children were born in Slydell, LA. I ran across your website and am excited and looking forward to reading your books. As the children are all grown but one who is 15 yrs old, I have just found time in life to take a brake for me. I have never had time to read books much until recently and was so happy to find your site. I wish they could know you personally (or not) and know that these books are you...especially Rachel's War -- I found it extremely close to my heart and such a statement for the women of the world who send their men off to fight the ungoldy wars that tear families apart but bring the freedoms we all so take for granted. Mrs. Colley, I absolutely love the Maid For a Day series! I have not read any other of your books but plan to. I discovered "Maid For a Day" purely by chance. It is wonderful to be able to pick up a book and read it without having to DEAL with profanity! It is fun to read about New Orleans, and imagine my surprise when I saw my hometown of Minden in Rub A Dub Dead! I then discovered that you are originally from Northwest Louisiana. The only complaint I have about your books is that there are not more of them at this time!!!! Thank you! Please don't retire Charlotte for years and years.

It is nice to know they care about having complete collections by an author as much as we readers appreciate their being available. I love New Orleans and must say it was a pleasure to become acquainted with Charlotte and her adventures. Oddly, we learned of my husband's becoming a diabetic at the same time I was reading of Charlotte's being diagnosed with the same conditon. Yesterday, I read of the announcement of Hank and Carol's impending arrival on the same day that my husband and her daughter made the same announcement to me! Hopefully, I will have the good fortune to meet you some day, perhaps at the Garden District Book Shop. Until then, I will look forward to finding out what intrigue will surround Charlotte in upcoming books.

I just wanted to tell you how much I enjoyed Scrub-A-Dub Dead. I was wondering how you would treat Hurricane Katrina, and I think you made the right decision when you timed the book a year after the hurricane. Since I am now getting older, it is really nice to have books about heroines who are also on the older side. Society tends to think older women are invisible. I will be eagerly awaiting your next book in the series. One tiny criticism: you need to get a better proofreader.

Dear Barbara, I recently discovered your books and, like the greedy reader I am, have devoured them one after the other. I have just completed "Wiped Out" and must tell you that reading "Charlotte's" musings about the threat of hurricanes to New Orleans sent a chill down my spine. How soon those fears became fact. But I suppose that those very musings must have been a constant background thought to all who lived in and love New Orleans. How ghastly for you all. Now I find myself wondering how in the world you will handle the devastation in future books? Will the awful truth be integrated into Charolotte's life or will she continue to live in the ideal of what could have been had Katrina never happened? I'm sure either way will present a challenge to you, as a writer and as a lover of New Orleans. I love your books and look forward to learning what the future holds for Charlotte and all her friends and family. Sincerely, Linda Lynch

Barbaram So many years have passed since I first met you through David, your husband. David and I have been friends for, lets see, getting on to more years than I care to mention. I had forgotten that you were an author though it was the topic of conversation between David and I many years ago. How could I forget something like that when I too, do like to write. No, I have never published anything or even submitted anything for consideration. Maybe I fear rejection. It is so pleasing to see that you are a success and do so enjoy what you do. Perhaps its to be you shall re-inspire me. I shall purchase all your works so that I may know you better than one might know in brief conversation. I wish you well and hope we shall again meet in not too distant future. Give my regards to David. B. Darryl McIntyre

I remember the first time I met you it was in an office and you told me all about your books and gave me your card and brochure and I remember telling my family how sweet of a person you were. Keep up the awsome work you are a great author and we love the New Orleans settings.

Hi, Barbara. So nice to meet you! I am from Minden and was hearing your name on radio and TV all week last week and then heard you are from Minden and had to check you out. Next I will have to read one of your books, a first Harlequin for me. Nice website and glad you haven't forgotten your hometown. You live near us now, I see, as we are in New Orleans. I hope to get to meet you in person one day. Continued success to you... Linda

Barbara, I read your latest book, Wiped Out, after meeting you last Saturday at Murder by the Book. As usual, I cannot put a good book down once I start it! I had to let you know that I loved your description of Mimi's husband as having " a gizzard of a heart"! Charlotte's character continues to delight me as I erupt into laughter over her "thoughts." Thank you for providing such a lovable character as Charlotte LaRue!

No joking - That's my name! Am an avid reader and now am thrilled to hear there is an author out there who shares my, rather unusual, (married) name! Would love an autographed copy of your latest. Will you be near Asheville, NC any time soon?

I love the redesigned website, Barbara! It's excellent and has all the features I most like in an author site. Thanks, especially, for the backlist information and links to booksellers for all your books, even for the out-of-print ones. I like the fact that you listed your mysteries in the order in which they appeared. Makes it easier for a new reader to know the order in which to read them. Kudos to you and to your website designers!

Dear Ms. Colley, I just wanted you to know that I have just discovered your Charlotte LaRue mysteries. I just finished reading Maid for Murder and I loved it. Your style of writing is a lot like Mary Higgons Clark. I can't afford to buy books, therefore I have to get them from the library. I raced back to the library and that was the only book of yours that they had. I live in a very small town so new books are hard for them to get, but I placed my order for them to get your books if possible. Thanks a lot. Sincerely, Debbie Racer
