Deni is a professional editor for a book-packaging company. She is available for speaking engagements at conferences and conventions. She often gives workshops on self-editing and a variety of other subjects.
Here's how I work:
The first time through, I make notes about glaring glitches, concept, content, genre specifics, and plot/pacing holes.
The second time through, I cover spelling, grammar, punctuation, syntax, transitions, anachronisms, historical/ethnic accuracy, characterization, conflict (internal and external), motivation, secondary players, backstory, POV, narrative voice, dialogue, exposition, sensory details, and descriptions of people, places and situations.
